Communication Leadership & Interactive Supervision – OOSH
Wednesday September 14, 2022 | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Communication among educators is crucial for a team’s sustainable development. Lack of
cohesion and common belief among educators can be considered as one of the major causes of
disagreements among educators. Through this program educators will become self-aware of
their roles and responsibilities as educators and leaders. In this workshop, I will go through
some lenses through which we listen to “the other”. By doing so we will tackle off the
communication barrier which already exists among humans. Once these barriers are taken care
of, all the educators will find themselves on the same page. This will enable the leaders to
communicate with their educators more effectively and the educators members will be able to
“listen” to the leaders from a newly acquired context. Thus, creating a safe and supportive
environment for all educators. Furthermore, this will enhance educators’ abilities in building
strong relationships with the children in care. Communicating with children and providing them
with space to be understood by educators can create a sense of belong for the children.
We will then extend on this new understanding to the interactive supervision. We will
distinguish between Active and Interactive Supervision which will be theoretically supported.
In this workshop, educators will be able to see what makes an effective supervision as compared
to the already existing practice. In this way, the leaders will be able to establish interactive
supervision expectations which are crucial for children engagement.
This is an effective session for service leaders too. This will expand on leaders’ ability to
communicate powerfully of their expectations from educators and children in care. Also, it will
assist them in reflective listening abilities, thereby creating an efficient and caring environment
at their workplace.
